EP: M Million - Money Way + Izuogu Na Iheme (Home & Away EP)

M Million only stormed the industry in 2020 with a debut single but he’s quickly grown into becoming so confident in his sound and with so much to say that he’s followed it with the release of a 7-track EP titled Home & Away, also indicative of his moods; Home being when/where he’s at comfort and Away being an exposure to the harsh realities of things that he has to confront outside of it.

Fire introduces the listening experience you’re about to have on the Home & Away EP. Being the opening track, it’s aptly fitting that M Million announces he’s coming with fire and then goes ahead to continue with a hopeful manifesto of his dreams as a young and budding artiste. It’s a decent pop record with stainless production and vocal assist from Eastern champ, Jeriq tha hussla who lays his 16 bars in very brisk fashion.

Only You is an ode to his ‘baby’. An infatuation that is explained like the effects of the psychoactive drug, marijuana, the slow tempo record points at all the ways ‘baby’ makes him feel especially with the confidence that she’s got his back.

On Money Way just like the title suggests, M Million is asking to be shown the money way in order to sustain lofty desires which include an upward lifestyle and a possession of life’s finer things, which he dares to be vocal about.

Infatuation is an obvious theme on the Home & Away EP, and the track Angelina toes the same path in R&B format, narrating the different emotionally intoxicating ways Angelina makes him feel and how he wants her to stay close and never let him go.

Overdose is a typical love song but with an unusual expression considering that he likens the effect of loving (or having to be in love) to that of an addiction, an affair that he describes as one with having no limits.

The mood switches up a bit to accommodate the vibe of Classical boy, T-Classic who is a guest artiste on Cruise. Together with M Million, the lover boys make banter crooning about the kind of cruise they’d like to be on. There’s also a fusion of hip-hop which adds an edge to the general sound template of the project.

Izuogu Na Iheme samples in the African house genre and is the only track off the EP that is sung in his native Igbo dialect. The upbeat nature of the track raises the energy of the entire project up a notch and it’s not surprising that the lyrical framework when interpreted reveals that he’s ascribing himself to a deity status. Takes a lot of confidence and gut to do that.
