Nigeria's mister flag, Akinkunmi Celebrated by Nzenweofor Group, gets five hundred thousand naira (N500,000) monthly salary for life

Akinkunmi, OFR, popularly known as Mr.
Flag, has been celebrated in an unprecedented way, by the Nzenweofor
Group, which has paid N1 million, upfront, of the approved N500,000 monthly, salary for life for his upkeep.

This was part of activities at the 2019,
LACLIC Golden Heroes Award, organised by the Nzenweofor Group, under the leadership of Chief Ndubuisi Nzenweofor Chibuzor, to support government’s efforts for a better society.

The event which held at the weekend in
Abuja, to celebrate and empower
remarkable young Nigerians, with the creme de la creme of the society in attendance.

The group announced that the Octogenarian, Akinkunmi, who is now 83 years old, would henceforth be earning a life salary of N500,000, monthly for his symbolic contribution to Nigeria.

Speaking at event, Chief Ndubuisi
Nzenweofor, the Chief Executive Officer/
Founder of the Nzenweofor Group, said the award was put together to honour Nigerians who have laboured to put the country on the world map.

“Just like we sing in the first stanza of our
National Anthem, the labour of our heroes
past shall never be in vain, this is one of
the ways to ensure that the sacrifices they
made for this country are not in vain.

Pa. Akinkunmi is a perfect example of one
of the heroes and this is one of the ways to
honour him. We have so many of them
around the country, dead and alive and we
must honour them in their graves,” he said.

In the group’s welcome address presented
by Joseph Udenna, he said the event was
an opportunity to empower young Nigerians in their chosen skilled professions. In competitions, the winners for the football game went home with N1 million, 1st runner up, N500,000:00, 2nd runner up, N300,000:00, for the beauty pageant the winner went home with a Brand new car, 1st runner up, N300,000:00, 2nd runner up, N200,000:00, for the make up, hair barbing, and dressing competition, the winners each went home with N500,000:00, 1st runner up, N300,000:00, 2nd runner up, N200,000:00.

A major highlight of the event was
presentation of the LACLIC Man of the Year
Award to President Muhammadu Buhari,
which was received on his behalf by
minister designate and former Deputy
Governor of Plateau State, Dame Pauline
Tallen.

Also the Military Widows Association, MIWA, led by its National President, Mrs. Veronica Aloko, at the event confirmed receipt of donations of 500 bags of rice and N3million cash to wives of late military personnel for the upkeep of their families, last week, by the Nzenweofor Group.

Also speaking at the event the Chairman of
the occasion Mr. Marcus Singleton, said
Nigeria has the potentials to solves it’s
problems and with commitments like that of the Nzenweofor Group, soon it would be a reality.

“Sir, the overriding essence of the awards is
to prudently instill hope and inspire young
persons to shun idleness, indolence and
crimes knowing that hardworking and
diligence remain the key to enduring
prosperity instead of involving in criminal
activities like kidnapping, banditry and other fraudulent activities in the society.

Thus, some great achievers who
industriously rose from zero level to hero
will in recognition be decorated with awards as well as giving incentives to nominated diligent skilled persons as economic empowerment aids” the group stated in an earlier statement to The President.

The event was attended by renowned
Nigerians including former a Ambassador of Nigeria to Ukraine, the National Coordinator Buhari Campaign Organization, Alh Danladi Pasali.

Ejike Asiegbu, Fred Amata, Ali Nuhu, Segun Arinze, Francis Ordega amongst others.
